Mountainview Cycling Club Info

Mountainview Cycling Club is a group of local enthusiasts dedicated to cycling. We are affiliated with the Canadian Cycling Association, the main governing body of cycling in Canada. Our membership consists of all ages and abilities. We host weekly group rides, clinics, and opportunities to compete in mountain biking events.

Risk Management Policies/Bylaws:
MOUNTIANVIEW CYCLING CLUB
RISK MANAGEMENT POLICIES
1. A member is defined as one whose membership is current and is in good standing with the club.
2. Every member shall hold a current citizen permit or UCI license.
3. Membership fees are $20.00 each.
4. To participate in any club ride / activities, a rider must be a member and sign a club waiver, release and indemnity form.
5. All riders shall wear appropriate safety gear on any club ride / activities. i.e. a helmet.
6. No rider shall be permitted to participate in any club ride / activities while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
7. All club ride / activities shall be under the control of a Club Leader.
8. Club Leaders shall be a member who is an experienced rider and is familiar with the area in which the club ride / activities are being held.
9. Club Leaders shall be nominated by the club members.
10. At the beginning of any club ride / activity, a Club Leader shall define a route and estimated time for the ride / activity.
11. Club Leaders will, to the best of his or her knowledge, inform all riders in the group of any hazards that may occur during the ride. i.e. steep down hills, loose ground, wet conditions, road crossings or train crossings.
12. During a club ride / activities, it is the responsibility of the Club Leaders to keep the group together. The Club Leader may split the group into two if necessary and a second club leader will then be needed. i.e. a fast group and a slower group.
13. All club rides / activities are meant be fun and safe for every one. It is the responsibility of all members to ensure this happens.
14. All accidents are to be documented and recorded. If there is personal injury or property damage the OCA accident report must be completed and the OCA notified immediately.
15. Any club member on a Mountainview Cycling Club-Total Sports ride should immediately advise the ride coordinator(s) and other members of the ride should the member feel the group or individuals in the group are riding in an unsafe manner. The member should withdraw from the ride if they feel unsafe.
16. Ride coordinators will carry cell phones for emergency use on all CLUB Rides and, from time to time, will remind riders to carry their own cell phones on CLUB Rides. Riders should immediately call 911 in the event of an emergency.
17. Club rides will not run if lightning is present and will be cancelled if lightning is sighted.
