NINE LIVES ENDURO

Part of the Ontario Enduro Series:
https://ontarioenduroseries.com/2024-events/

Date: August 18th 2024

Event Description:

We’re not talking about a giant loop through the forest, we’re talking new-school enduro – aka a same day stage race, MTB rally, the newest craze in MTB racing!

This event is “downcountry” style, meaning cross-country bikes and gear are totally appropriate, as are “bigger” all-mountain and trail bikes.

How does it work?

There will be a series of timed stages. Ride on non-timed (mostly climbing) sections to get to the start, then get timed on the race (mostly downhill/flat) sections. Regroup after the timed stage, but make sure to head back up the hill in time for your next start, the clock will start with or without you! A great chance to ride with your buddies, and compare times!

Here is a video to explain how the event works.

Nine Lives History

The Nine Lives began as the Nine Hour Relay in 2005. Always looking to do something different, the 9-hour took the very popular (at the time) 8-hour relay format, and added an extra hour to give riders an extra hour of riding for both extra value and extra challenge!

However, after several successful editions and a desire to change things up once more, the enduro format, which was gaining popularity in more mountainous regions of the world, was brought to the flatter terrain and more xc-focused crowd of Ontario. 6 timed downhill stages + 3 bonus events made for 9 activities, so in homage to the 9-hour, the Nine Lives Enduro was born.

The popularity of the event has continued to grow, with success greater than what was ever achieved with the 9-hour. As one of the events that helped inspire the Ontario Enduro Series, the Mountainview Cycling Club is proud to join the series and share in the continued growth and progression of this exciting race format! ~ Thomas Wood (Founder)
