This Thursday is the first race for the Thursday night series! Come out and blow the dust off your racing legs, its time to have some fun! 3 courses to choose from, and the same great atmosphere as you’ve come to love…sponsored by Total Sports the Bike Shop.
Remember, you don’t need to be a club member to participate in these races!
Group Rides have begun!
Monday nights: Mountainview – 5:30-6:30 (Time subject to change) – These rides will be a clinic of some form, formal or informal. The stronger riders will disperse themselves amongst smaller groups of beginner or intermediate riders, and either do focused drills, or just ride and give on-trail advice. As such, these rides are for all ages and abilities, and all riders are *encouraged* to come and ride in a group, to learn or to help out!
Tuesday nights: 5:30-7:30 (Approx) – The venue is going to change – Mountainview one week, Copeland the next, and a fun new place each 3rd week. Check the calendar for details…print it out so you don’t forget! This ride is for intermediate/expert riders.
Wednesday nights – Road Rides: Meet at Baseline road and Angela Schmidt Foster Rd (drive in road) at 7pm. This means everyone has had a bit of a warmup getting there. We will ride a continuous paceline format, but at a fairly easy pace (30-32 k/hr) for the first couple of weeks – while everyone learns the rotation.
Hi everyone, check out the photos of the 2011 Mountainview 9 Hour along with a few other photos taken during the year. Click on the photo gallery tab above, or navigate directly here: http://picasaweb.google.com/mountainviewmidland
Sometime in the summer (I can’t remember which night exactly) BIOS Action Cam came to the Thursday Night Series to demo their HD helmet cams. I finally got the raw footage, and put together a little edit. Check it out:
Caution: this video will make you want to ride bikes!
The sun is setting sooner, the days are getting cooler, and those who participate in public education must return to school soon. These clues would suggest that summer is ending, but a perhaps more definitive clue is that next week is the *finale* of the 2011 edition of the Mountainview Thursdsay Night Race Series is next Thursday, September 1st.
Come out to enjoy the last race of the season, and stick around for post race BBQ and end of year awards, as well as to see some photography from throughout the year. The BBQ will cost only a few dollars, bring your friends and family to enjoy some BBQ and to revel in your glory while you receive your awards!
Thanks to everyone who came out to make the 7th Mountainview 9 Hour Relay a roaring success! Despite a thunderstorm-induced course-closure, the race was able to continue after 90 minutes (time well spent drying off and pie eating), and the course firmed up beautifully for the rest of the day. Thanks again to our sponsors, Total Sports and Joyride 150, and congratulations to all of the winners.
Results are posted, follow the links above. Bonus event results and lap times are posted as well.
***JUST ANNOUNCED – Total Sports has offered up $1000 in CASH PRIZES for fastest laps and the bonus events – come chow a pie, limbo a bike, carry copious bottles or slay the slip n’ slide like a champ and win big cash!***
